Diffusion of Innovations: Snapchat

Snapchat: the fastest way to share a moment. Since its release in 2011, Snapchat has grown rapidly. Snapchat was revolutionary upon its release. The app allowed users to grow a relationship with their phones because Snapchat gives its users a privacy feature that no app of its time has ever done before. Users can send photos to one another and the photo would disappear after 10 seconds forever. In today’s society, the world is revolved around photos and sharing what we do every day, Snapchat allows us to do that with knowing that our pictures are safe and they won’t be stolen. The app grew quickly because it is focused to be used by the teens and the younger generation. The access to cell phones gives us the opportunity to spread information quickly. So let’s say when the app launched the creators could have told their friends about it and then they would tell their friends and so on. This would all be done through cell phones and other social media platforms.

Users quickly adapted to the app upon release because it was something new and innovative because before the release of this app the idea of something that allows you to send photos instantly and then 10 seconds later disappear was unimaginable. So, when people saw this innovation they jumped on board immediately and since then it has changed the way we live. It is hard to find someone nowadays that doesn’t have a snapchat account.

There are not many downsides though to the app. It has drawn in a large community and it is only growing. If you were to look deep into the app, yes there are a few downsides but none that would cause the app to lose popularity. https://www.theodysseyonline.com/17-phases-evolution-snapchat
